McDonalds World Cup Poem

June 2010

DoP: Richard Mott

Director: Neil Gorringe

Production Company: Moxie Pictures

McDonalds have launched their World Cup marketing campaign with this striking new spot shot by Richard Mott, which builds on the success of last year’s McDonald's 'Favorites’ campaign. While it retains its 'Just Passing By' ode, the sentiment is clearly driven by the excitement, anticipation and speculation surrounding the 2010 sporting event.

McDonald's say the ad celebrates "how the restaurant provides something for everyone, football fan or not, as Britain lives through the ups and downs of the tournament". The spot illustrates this wonderfully by creating a colourful, eye-catching portrait of various individuals coming together through a shared love of food and the great game.

StreetFighter-Legacy

June 2010

DoP: Christopher Sabogal

Directors: Joey Ansah & Owen Trevor

Production Company: Streetlight Films for CapCom

StreetFighter-Legacy is a live action short film project, based on the popular Capcom gaming franchise which was directed by Joeh Ansah and Owen Trevor and was produced through Streetlight Films.

Unlike the unfaithful and butchered movie industry adaptations of fighting video games, Legacy is a super faithful, darker toned and more adult themed incarnation of Street Fighter - down to the smallest details of the costume, the choreography, the narrative, the original music themes and the special moves.

Shot over two days in atmospheric woodlands of the Ashridge Estate the film was shot on the Phantom HD and the RED to beautifully capture the intricate and complicated choreographed fight scenes in super slow motion whilst accommodating certain moments for special effects as the characters used their signature moves.

MUSE, "Uprising"

DOP - Christopher Sabogal

Director - Hydra of Humble New York

October 2009

Read below what Christopher had to say on the making of this video...

"Uprising" is the first number one song Muse has had in the U.S. and is the lead off single from the eagerly awaited new album, The Resistance. Directed by Hydra, a collabrotive of Humble New York, the music video tweaks both time and space to create an dystopic, ultra slo-mo world in 1/25th scale. It was shot for 4 days on 2 continents, with two 1938 GMC pickup trucks (of drastically different size) using both the RED and Phantom cameras to get the dreamy, slo-mo look the story demanded. I shot all the bands performance here in the UK working closely with the directors to create a brooding, nightmarish feel that would fit into the dystopian miniature world that they were going to be placed into.

"Tiny Dancers" have a Big Job

September 2007

In Magni Agustsson's latest video, a 'rockumentary' directed by Paul Milnor at Streetgang, we move seamlessly from an intimate performance piece to a live gig - intercut with artistic compositions and complimented by a beautifully naturalistic hand-held style.

It's a bit much asking them to hold their own lights though Magni, as if they haven't got enough to do...

Shipshape and Cornwall fashion

September 2007

Ed Rutherford's latest copper-bottomed music video for "Funeral for a Friend" The Great Wide Open was directed by a collective of three directors going by the name of D.A.R.Y.L at Pulse Films. Shot in a fish shed in Cornwall, the film employs a strong nautical theme through the use of red (port) and green (starboard). By and large the look and dynamic was created firmly in camera combining a use of manually operated shift and tilt lenses, a de-synchronized shutter and some cunning day for night helicopter shots

Watch out for Ed's next video in the offing, directed and produced by the same team for "Lethal Bizzle" Police on my Back, coming soon!

Jog on... Jack

September 2007

Quite simply 3 minutes and 7 seconds of a brilliant idea shot by Denzil Armour-Brown down in Brighton. Directed by Tim Pope and captured in a wonderfully uninterrupted take, this concept tracks Jack through every human emotion experienced during an agonising 3 minute run.

Thinking outside the box

September 2007

Athlete Hurricane (Anthony Dickenson, Manifesto)

This cleverly made film showcases a number of techniques at once; it's motion control, frame by frame, long-exposure, animation - shot on digital stills cameras and then made into movies...did you catch that? Some innovative thinking and white poly boxes have resulted in an unusual take on the performance piece shot by Luke Palmer.

Click on the link below to view the video along with an extra little stop-motion spot, equally as clever, shot with Chris Cairns at Partizan.

"Oh My God I Can't Believe It"

July 2007

...another prolific music video by Denzil Armour-Brown

Directed by Partizan's Nema Nourizadeh, Denzil's latest video for Mark Ronson is a contemporary pastiche of "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit" - combining live action and animation.

A beautifully sultry lighting style is offset by a mesmorising Lily Allen in her most animated performance to date.
